If after three weeks they are causing you problems, then they do not fit. It could be a flaw in the manufacturing of the shoe.
I wear the "nursing clog" which became very popular last year. They have been around for year and years, but only have caught on as a fashion "must have" with the younger generation.

Here, try this;
Put on heavy socks, then put the shoes on. Liberally dowse the area that needs to be "stretched" with rubbing alcohol.
It will be cold at first, and a bit uncomfortable, but you'll get used to it.
Then wear the shoes for as long as you can. Do this more than once if necessary.
Alcohol is what professionals use to stretch shoes in only certain parts. It's MUCH better than water - as it doesn't damage the leather.
Needless to say, it's best to do this at home in your spare time rather than at work. And at home, you can do other things while the shoes is "stretching"
This works WONDERS!!!
Those little bottles of "shoe stretcher" are NOTHING MORE than rubbing alcohol sold in small bottles at VERY high prices. Do yourself a favor and buy it directly and get so much more for your money.

there's always stepping on the back a few times while walking in them but then that could mean possibly ruining the shoe.

Sometimes an inside seam will rub, try some sandpaper in that spot on your shoe.
