249 times. Say what you want about David Carr but he's one tough dude!

No, Schaub will wish he was still Vick's backup after a year with that horrible offensive line. Furthermore, he will have the same, if not worse numbers than David Carr. Does management really think it was Carr's fault for the Texans problems? If they had actually addressed the biggest problem which was the offensive line, they'd actually have a better record. Like the Reggie Bush blunder, I think they screwed up again. No QB will survive behind that horrid O-line, not even the great Matt Schaub. They already reserved a room for him at the local hospital.

Schaub will not get hit as many times as Carr did. Carr came into the league with a porous O-line. Every announcer in the league talked about how bad his protection was. This gave him a ready made excuse anytime the Texans lost. Instead of learning the quick release and short drops or reading a defense and calling audibles or hot routes, he would march up to the line, see the defense and keep the same play. Then he would take the drop, hold on to the ball, and get hit. I am not saying that Houston doesn't have a protection problem, I just think that Carr learned to use it as an excuse for losing instead of learning to evolve and develop techniques that would help him. I think Schaub will use all that he has learned and avoid the hit. Remember, in his last year at Virginia, he suffered a knee injury from taking a hit behind the line. He knows the value of quick drops and throwing the ball away when he has to.

carr is more mobile then schaub. schaub will be sacked many more times unless that O Line has a miracle season. i give kudos to carr for putting up with that many hits. he's like the next brett favre in terms of toughness. many qb's may just call quits being behind that line. so, schaub will probably be injured at some point in the season.

That's a big NO. Matt Schaub is a smarter QB than Carr and will throw the ball away when needed instead of holding onto it and getting hit. Sage Rosenfelds and Tony Banks were able to do just fine behind the SAME EXACT line.

One things for sure Carr's WAY more mobile than Schaub. Schaub's gonna get sacked about 53 times this year.

I think the texans are going to draft O-Line though in the draft though so we'll see.

I'am always reading what the pros say/ask and you have a hell of a question! I have always admired Carr for the fact that he would always get up! I honestly cant see schaub not leaving on a stretcher during the course of the season. And with all the top notch De's and lb's that are gonna hit him it almost seems impossible!!!!!

Matt Schaub will be on the ground frequently if they do not give him better pass protection. As for his toughness that will remained to be seen. The Texans must continue to improve that offensive line and then they will be a better team.

your right carr is tough. schaub won't have to get himself up off the ground that much. Their line will be a little better, and schaub is more mobile that carr was.

Schaub might a little rusty from sitting behind Vick all those years. Something is bound to break sooner or later. I think he'll survive the first year but he'll break something in year two...

it must suck to be the quarterback on a team with such a bad offensive line. no quarterback can succeed on a team with such a bad offensive line. matt schaub will be lucky to get out of next season alive.
