Expect to be in school at least 6-7 years, depending you're a classic 4 year undergrad and 2 year for master's. That will be the very least you will need to get into sociology to be a counselor.

To be a doctor, expect at least another 3+ years on top of that. It depends on what the specialty would be.

For a nurse, a master's would do the trick unless you were to be a therapist (respiratory, physical, etc). would need less work. I believe it's only 2 year degree.

Psychologists are doctors and you'd need like 8 years after high school.
You could be a counselor with a master degree- 6 years
Or do something like that with just a bachelor in counseling or social work- 4 years.

Start off taking courses at a community college- they're cheaper...get good grades then you can get grants, get some tuition paid for for free.

I don't have an answer for your schooling queston, but, I would suggest, in a constructive type of manner, that you should spend extra time in learning to write clearly, speak plainly, and spell properly (while you are still young). Please don't take offense. If you chose to be a psycologist for children, try to remember that the majority of the children you will be seeing are most likley having problems due to their parents. You'll see alot of "BAD" kids who really are not bad at all. They just need love and need help learning to cope with life. You might also consider a different title for your carrier. The title "psycologist" or "psyciatrist" might tend to make a child feel like there is something wrong with theirself. I wish you well. Whatever you do, put your heart into it.
