Why or why not

I think that it depends on the celebrity. If the person does negative things, then they will be portrayed as negative and vice versa. Hopefully our youth is smart enough not to emmulate the ones who are on the wrong path, but it seems that such in not the case. The medial does pay too much attention to the negatives such as Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Britney and Lindsey. I am not saying that they are bad people, but all you ever see about them is negative and sends a poor message to young women looking for a role model.

Depends on the famous people. Some do project themselves in a negative light and it does effect young people. Others are shown in positive ways and are good for kids to see. The ones who party hard (drinking, drugs, etc...), drive under the influence, starve themselves/drug themselves to be overly thin, act provacatively, etc... are negative for young people to be exposed to. And for some reason, some of those are the ones who are the loudest protesters against paparazzi (which is an entirely other discussion) yet they go out of their way to put on a show for them.

It depends on the person. Some young people can watch things and see stuff in the media and they won't be affected by it or try the stupid stuff they see, but then there are some that do. So it just depends...

As a communications student and (sob!) non-working professional, I've always believed the people is never as influentiable nor as ignorant or stupid to "do as told", still, I think that some media images could be negative when combined with the kind of peer pressure environment that exists among young people...

In short, I think a youngster won't do what he sees, or behave as that, unless someone dares him/her... or conditions his/her fitting in to it...

I could be wrong tho... Some guys (and ladies) ARE stupid... :)

Of course, because however clelebtities are behaving...good or bad...but mostly the media portrays the bad, it makes an impression on young people. They think thats the way they should act as well.

Yes I do, they see these famous people having children out of wedlock and actresses who are way to skinny. And they think it's OK, so they turn around and do it.
