Magnetic Drives:
1) Floppy Disk (3 1/2 Floppy A:) This the common of magnetic storage devices although no longer being used due to the invention of the Flash Drive. 3 1/2 Floppy is portable but lacks memory.
2) Floppy Disk (5 1/2 Floppy B:) This is obsolete and not known to many computer users these days. These were much lager versions of the 3 1/2 Floppy and has a little more space. Back then, they used these devices to boot their computers from, but thanks to the introduction of a CD/DVD rewriter these were now considered obselete. Ever wonder that the abbreviations in the My Computer; A:, C:, D:, E: F: G:, also includes a B: that is reserved for a 5 1/2 Floppy? Some computers still use these storage devices.
3) Drive C: - Considered as the local drive, any program installed will be stored in this drive as Default.
4) Drive D: - Is used as a back up drive incase Drive C: fails or store the image of Drive C; to boot from incase of problems in the future.

Optical Drives:
1) Flash Drives - These are commonly used by many people, it has a USB port and it's simple to operate. Just plug it into a USB port and you can begin saving and retrieving data. Very portable too.
2) CD/DVD Burners - These drivers burn data onto any DVD or CD-ROM. Some blanks CDs/DVDs are rewritable which gives users a better advantage.
3) External hard drives - these are those large boxes that connect to one of the ports of the computer to increase memory capabilities and optimization. Considered worthless, it is rarely found in any computer store.
4) Memory Card Readers - Many cell phones come with memory cards to expand their multimedia capabilities. Commonly memory card readers require USB ports which makes things a lot easier. Once the memory card reader is connected to the computer, you can delete and download multimedia.
