I was adopted at 5 days old. I was told from as early as I can remember. My mom made it into this great story. Told me how they didn't think they could have kids and really wanted a baby. Then they finally got the call one day there was a baby girl for them. How excited they were etc.....I used to ask her to tell me the story of "how they got me" when I went to bed at night. She made it sound so great, I loved hearing it. I was probably 2 or 3 when she started with the story....basically as soon as I knew words etc...she started it. It was never hidden from me. I have a great family. I have now made contact with my birth family as well. So, I am very lucky to have an "extended family" now!

i'm not adopted, but my good friend is...she was a baby, and was told at maybe like 7 or something...however, even though she is adopted, she is the happiest person in the world and is confident in herself! :D

I was told form the first day I came home ..so in a sense ..I always knew & accepted it..& I was one of the lucky ones ..I was blessed with great loving parents

yes I was, told at a young age, always knew my biological mother (not father) as I was kept in my mothers family - her sister reared me up and I still call the lady who reared me up mum.

sometimes, during my childhood, I'd look at my parents, and my siblings, and just sigh, and go, "damn, I GOTTA be adopted." But alas, I'm not.
