I've wondered this myself.
But take this into a wider perspective. Americans typically have a higher standard of living. Compare what we consider necessities: a college degree, a home with a lot of square footage, air conditioning, computers/TVs/electronics. Utilities, two bathrooms, etc.
Many Americans consider that if you can't provide all of these things, you are not giving the child everything. Many poor families can provide love for a child, even if they cannot provide all of the material things we have come to expect in our comparatively rich lifestyle.
Think about it, in 3rd world countries, I'm sure that there are a lot of loving families who long to give their kids a better life than what they have, but cannot. Does that make them bad parents and irresponsible?

I think that you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to being poor. I really think that you need to walk a mile in someone else's shoes to understand why they do what they do. Just because someone doesn't have the luxuries that this society thinks that you need to "survive" now a days doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to have children. You are basically saying that all poor people are on welfare, and I know that they are not all on welfare. Just because someone doesn't make as much money as other people doesn't mean that you can't love your child like any other one. At least if you don't have money you aren't pawning your children off on nanny's to raise your children for you and you only spending an hour a day with them. I would rather be poor and happy with my children then rich and miserable. It's all in how you look at things and I guess that they way that you look at things is distorted. It's not about what you give your children in the physical sense it's about what you give them in the emotional sense. You can't buy your children's love, and in America that's what's expected for parents to do. It's sad but true.

Because to some people family is more important that all the material things like money and such. Plus you have to factor in if you think they are so poor, they prob don't have medical or resources availalble to them to prevent a pregnancy.
Plus is it is not always so sad. So the kids don't have tv, a computer and can't eat McDonalds. Is that so bad? I don't think so. Children of these circumstances are generally raised with better morals, and are more driven to achieve their goals. They expect nothing and work for everything. They are not phased by materialistic things.

Poverty and ignorance go hand in hand. Some cultures and religions put more emphasis NOT using birth control than in the obvious fact that millions of children are being born into poverty and disease because they don't believe in birth control
THANKS WORLDWIDE TO THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH., And others, too who think their race will eventually take over if they produce enough children.

Why should they be denied the opportunity to raise a child?
I would like to ask you about your understanding of poverty? Everybody plays a part in poverty. We need to be doing more to eliminate it.

Usually poor people do not think of the what will it be tomorrow. They just live on a day to day basis. So they do not worry having more children.

a agree with you. I think alot of this pregnancies are unplanned and are accidents. Alot of people in this situation know they made a mistake but they live their childeren and want to keep them. Other people who get pregnant on purpose and know they can't afford it are lazy and want to government to take care of their kids.
