Before you go and get a bunch of different solutions from people first do this. Boot up you computer in safe mode. Do this by turning the computer all the way off, then turn in on while repeatedly hitting the F8 key. When a list of startup options appear, select safe mode (WITHOUT networking)
Once your computer is up, you should see the words safe mode in all 4 corners. Find the icon on your desktop labelled My Computer and right click, select manage.
On this new window, look for Event Viewer and click the plus sign next to it to expand it. Left click Application and look at the red circles with an x thru them. This should give you a basic idea on whats causing the problem.
Are the open windows your referring to, Internet pages? If so it could be a problem with your versian of Java. Let us know.

You have either an abundance of spyware or a virus, and you need to clean it off. You are best to do this in safe mode, and if you cant do that, you might want to spend the $80 or so that it is going to cost to take it into a shop and have them clean it off.
Lavasoft has some great protection programs that work for your computer.

Your computer is infested with viruses and software. You need to run you anti-virus application and scan the entire computer for viruses. If there are some detected, delete them or put them on quarantine. If your computer is very slow, remove some programs you never use and have no importance to your daily life. But if you want better satisfaction, and start anew, just reinstall Windows.
