Let's look at facts:
1. If one looks at the results of the Nov elections and subsequent polls, it is clear that the vast majority of Americans don't support Bush's policies in Iraq.
2. Bush threatens to veto today's Senate bill on Iraq because it has 'timelines/withdrawal dates' and 'pork'. The supposed 'pork' includes (belated) aid to Katrina victims, farmers in disaster areas, kids in need, etc.
3. Bush states that he will veto if the proposed bill contains the 'pork' or the 'timelines/withdrawal dates' '.
The conclusion is that Bush:
1. Doesn't give a **** (self-censorship) about the majority opinion of Americans.
2. Doesn't give a **** (self-censorship) about the problems of normal Americans.
3. Thinks that 'funding a civil war' is more important than 'funding' local projects and needs.
How can one support such a man?

The majority of Americans can barely find America on a map let alone Iraq. Due to their severe ignorance, their opinion on global economics/politics/war is pretty much worthless.

Hey Tyrone, the month of April is upon us in just another day, a lot has happened since November. Your use of the terminology 'vast majority of Americans' is a bit misleading ! It would be more accurate if you described them as liberals.

It should become unanimous by the majority of Americans that this evil Congress we have today , gets absolutely no 'pork' for their pet projects until social security is payed back the billions these parasites 'borrowed' from it. Please , don't give us the bullcrap that the 'pork' was designated to the poor and downtrodden, when all one need do is read the newspaper.

What GWB cares about is the security of this nation and it's people. The dumb @ss Congress seems to have lost site of that. The so called civil war you elude to is mainly the scum suckin Iranians going over and giving the insurgents the munitions for which, to kill their neighbors. Take those bastards out of the equation and you will have peace in the middle east.

I know it's hard for a flaming liberal, like youself, to understand the minds of those who put national security ahead of funding local projects, but I'm sure if you ask Billary, they will agree with you, because that's what they do, pander to their local audience !

No, you have it all wrong.
1. The Dems did not have the votes they needed until some congressman were bought by the pork. They should be jailed for treason for selling there vote against our soldiers.
2. The latest poll I saw saw that in fact the President's numbers were quite low, yet just above those of Congress.
3. The last election was about Congress sitting on their butts doing nothing. much like this one is.
4. People in both parties are sick and tired of our leaders acting like children.
5. The Democrats are going to loose this war on purpose and the American people will see it.

1.A. If one were to assume that there was a specific reason dems got elected, then the democrats would have to agree that all their other policies are garbage. Are you willing to do that? Congress needed a change, and they got one (unfortunately not one for the better).

1.B. The polls you are talking about lumps a number of people into one category, to make it look like all these people want something they do not. For instance, if someone thinks there are not enough troops in Iraq, they get put into the same category as someone who thinks there are too many people in iraq, since they both disagree with Bush.

2. Pork is pork. Don't be a hypocrite. If the katrina and farmer related issues need a bill, why don't the democrats create one for those subjects? This was about bribing congressmen to vote for the bill in order to get their pet projects passed. It is a disgusting insult to our troops to piggyback those non issues on a bill regarding the funding they need.

3. As he should

The conclusion:
1. You don't know a ****ing (self-censorship) thing about politics, nor what is going on in the world.

That's the beauty of being a lame-duck president. You can do what needs to be done without having to worry about your poll numbers.

That may be so. However, a vast majority of Americans feel that since we're there, we may as well win.

$75 million for a peanut storage facility? What exactly does that have to do with troop funding?? $25 million to support spinich growers??? I guess the troops need their iron, but be real.

You know, and I know, and everyone else knows that all the pork in the bill is to bribe congressmen and senators into voting for the bill. "C'mon, Congressman....will you vote for this bill if I throw in $35 million for that space center in your district?"

<<'timelines/withdrawal dates' >>

Keeping information like when you're going to pull out away from enemy eyes is a BASIC military strategy. I suppose you want to mail the operational plans, troop deployments and strengths to the people who want to kill Americans?

It's frightening to me that you vote.

Bush and those that support him are not quitters or losers that hide and bury their heads in the sand and hope the terrorist problem hoes away.
Sen. Clinton and Biden both have stated last year that putting a time line to leave would be a mistake.
As others. So this is just another attempt to politicize the war...why have a time line..just leave now. They were given the opportunity to vote for an immediate withdrawal and they all voted NO.
Again this proves this nothing more than political grandstanding on the democrats for their own agenda on the lives of our troops.

YOUR LOOKING AT OPINIONS NOT FACTS and you have ... a warped conclusion..
Tell me how 75 million for PEANUT storage is a big factor...
Tell me how 25 million for the Farmers NOT in disaster areas..the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA spinach farmers whose practices killed people this summer....PS isn't that PELOSI'S state...WOW
Tell me how giving our Enemy's the exact date of our pull out is a sound military call...IT ISN'T

You are so blinded by your hate of GW that you will SPEW any lies and spin more lies and 1/2 truths so that you can to be on the opposite side....

Pork isn't in the interest of normal Americans, and thwarting a precipitate retreat from Iraq may be viewed as statesmanship, not failing to care about the opinion of the majority.

The Dems would have never even passed the pullout clause if they had not known Bush would veto it. Then a loss in Iraq would be fully on their own heads. They want to please their followers, but not actually wrest control of this awful mess from Bush. They want it to be his problem, not theirs.

Well I'm a liberal Democrat but in this case the President does have the veto power for a reason. He should, however, be working with Congress instead of saying that he will override everything they do. How can one support such a man you ask? That's kind of like the question "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?" The world may never know.

Don't forget, the Democrats are including war funding in this bill, so they, too, are funding a war. The only difference is they are using dirty tactics to get other things they want. It is a form of blackmail. At least President Bush is honest and states exactly what his plans are.
