one way they get their money is from commercials brakes in they are like thousands of dollars per secound just from those they make millions per day some companies sponsor some showsss... or sponsor the artists... like provide clothes for them... in this case, both of em benifit... artist gets free clothes to wear on their shows, sponsors get the advertisement they want... TV shows themselves DO NOT make profit from on-air advertising. it is the TV networks that make their money from advertising. some of the money gained from the ads and sponsors pay the licensing fees for the show (if a tv show is produced by any company other than the actual TV network itself, the network must pay the respestive company money in order to screen such copyrighted material) it is these licensing fees that fund tv shows.
if a show is produced by the network that is screening it (for example, CBS are one of the studios involved in Everybody Loves Raymond) then the advertising and sponsor revenue can go straight to production costs, and actually works out cheaper in the long run, because they may earn money from licensing their show to other networks in other countries. and as Scaramanga mentioned, they can also then release these shows onto DVD.

From the production company (sometimes a TV network, sometimes an outside company) making the show. The payoffs are not that much relative to the production budget for network TV programming.

The money comes from the viewers and from commercials; also, some game shows advertise products.

From advertising for companies. That's why shows like the Price is Right get all of those prizes. They are actually advertising for those companies. They can give away a car and the car company is getting all of that advertising.

I imagine the products for the commercials pay top dollar. Then, when you go on to the more popular ones like millionaire, they've got all the publicity to add.

Big time advertisers, who have so much money it really doesn't matter to them, in fact, it;'s a write off tax deduction. You see, if they give away one million, everyone watches and they sell their products.

Remember after the shows they give their credits? The companies whom are mentioned are sponsors.
