I got a pay per day phone for my Son. For 75 cents per day, you can get free nights and weekends and free mobile to mobile. For another 25 cents you can also call your favorite number...so thats a dollar per day.
The 20 dollar intial balance WILL allow you to talk on your phone. The 20 dollars is your budget.......then every day, they subtract 75 cents from it, or 1 dollar, depending on the options you chose.
Here is my advice to you and to your parents. Copy my response so your parents can see it.
This is a very expensive phone. The plan may appear cheap, but its really very expensive.
Lets say you do not use ANY minutes....this phone will cost you $22.50 per month at the least..... Unless you use that phone for nights and weekends and mobile to mobile only, the phone will cost you that much. If you call your voice mail, or someone not with Alltell ...your 20 dollar deposit gets charged 10 cents per minute for each call ..by the way.... Mobile to Mobile means any Alltel phone, not ANY cellphone.
If you download a ring tone or a video game, ....most tones and games are 3 to 7 dollars each. You not only pay that, but the charge for using their internet....so any game or ringtone you download will cost you almost 20 dollars each.
My son only used about 10 minutes per month, and only used his phone on nights and weekends....he never downloaded anything on it, but it cost me about 30 dollars per month to use.
If your parents already have an Alltel account, it will be much cheaper to add you to their plan for 10 dollars per month than make the mistake I did and do the pay per day.
Another HUGE thing to consider is customer service. If you have any problems or questions about your phone, the customer service for Alltel prepaid phones is LOUSY.

If you go to alltel.com they have alot of promising answers for you. My mother works for alltel and I had a pre-paid calling plan and it really worked for me so if that is what your doing, its a great idea, but if you get a chance, please check out the website or stop in a local store and dont feel stupid for asking questions you really dont understand and that you need answered to make sure you are getting the phone plan that works for you and you can afford.
