I Hear that can be normal. You probably still have a couple of weeks to go though.

Hopefully the contractions you are feeling are just Braxton Hicks contractions but there is always the possibility that they aren't. Not everyone's water will break when they are in labor and the docs will have to break it for them at the hospital. Since the contractions are 8 minutes apart, I'd try laying down on your left side for a bit and drinking a very large glass of water. If they are truly Braxton Hicks contractions, this should help ease them. However, if they contractions start getting close together, you should go to the hospital. You may be in labor or you may not and the staff at the hospital are there to help you. If you feel safer, call the labor and delivery department or your doc and ask their opinion.
Good luck! Hopefully it's just "false labor" and you will be okay...

Hi, I am a Mom too! The best answer is for you to call you Doctor ASAP and tell him what is going on. They will want to know HOW long have your contractions been going on? Have they stopped for a while and then started back again? At 33 1/2 weeks, it could be braxton hicks (Sp) contractions, which are just getting your body ready for the real thing. If this is your first baby, it could also be that it is a false labor. There are a lot of factors, my water NEVER broke on it's own, and the doctor had to break it for me! But the best thing to do is call your doctors office right away, because being anxious about what is going on won't help you or your baby, or your birthing experience!

No. The contractions should be 5 min. apart. Then you still don't need to go in a rush. You will be at least a couple hours til the major stuff hits. Relax, prop your feet up and take some breaths. If it's your first I know it's hard to relax, but it will be a while to the good stuff happens. How do you know how far you are dilated if you are not at the hospital? If you had an appt. lately and you were dilated to one, it could have changed a lot from now, but you don't even start being watched on a normal basis at the hospital until you are dilated to like 6 or 7, then get the epidural if you are planning on that(it really is a bit help). Your water shouldn't break until you are further along, but if it breaks while at home, go straight to the hospital,,,the baby is coming. Good luck..I'm a mom of 3, not a doctor, so this is just a little advice from a mom.

Your water doesn't have to break in order to be in labor. If the contractions continue regularly for a while, then go ahead to the hospital. They can check you and put you on a monitor to see how strong the contractions are and double check your dilalation. It's better to be safe than sorry, so go and get checked out. The labor and delivery nurses really don't mind!

I would call your doctor. There are always these questions, especially with a first pregnancy. Most sources agree you should definitely get in contact with an OB or hospital because of being less than 37 weeks along. It could be "false labor" or Braxton-Hicks contractions but talk to the Doc.

I was in the hospital last monday for contractions that were 7 minutes apart and very painful. Turns out I had a UTI and that was causing uterine irritability. They can always monitor you up at labor and delivery to see for sure. When in doubt, go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.

When to Call the Doctor: 3 Signs that you are in premature labor
If any of these possible signs of premature labor occur, stop whatever you are doing and call your healthcare provider. Sit or lie down while you wait to hear what he or she advises.
1. Your membranes rupture and amniotic fluid either trickles or gushes from your vagina.
2. Contractions that you may have previously thought were normal Braxton- Hicks contractions now become more intense and more regular.
3. Sudden onset of low back pain or crampy pressure in your pelvic area; a feeling that you have not felt before

Since you're only 33 weeks, yes you should get to the hospital. Most women actually don't have their water break naturally, so that's not uncommon. Good Luck though!

If your waters break, then go in asap.
But for now, being only 1cm dilated that baby isn't coming just yet. If your contractions get to 5 mins apart, go in. Or if you dilate past 5 cm's then go in too.
Apart from that info, being your first and this is early, I would definitely ring the hospital and see what they say.

You're a little early yet. If you were ready to go, your contractions would (normally) be painful...starting at your back and wrapping around. You could call your doctor or at least the hospital to ask their opinion, but I'm thinking you're experiencing Braxton Hicks. Have you lost your mucus plug yet? You usually lose your plug a few days to a week prior to going into real labor, so I just wondered.
Above all, don't panic and while I know people mean to be helpful...some posts are a little dramatic. Just call the hospital or your doctor and ask their opinion.
