I think it would look really cool for my date to wear a pin stripe suit...but I know a tux is more traditional...

I went to a formal with a guy who wore a pine-stripe. It was a 3 piece suit so it was a little more formal, but if he doesn't, have him wear a silk tie and a pocket hankercheif, while it sound a little tacky sometimes, actually makes a great statement. It could match your dress. If he's a thin guy, a cumberbun could also work, but remember that putting a horizontal line on anything could make him look wider than he really is.

That would be cool for him to stand out. A pinstripe with a cumberbun & all that stuff would probably be great!
