in order to trade up, we need to give up our entire draft. check the trade value chart. we would have to do what new orleans did for ricky williams. in my mind CJ isnt worth all our picks. we should build a better defense first. WR is an issue but ginn is overrated. the only way we get mechem or bowe is if we trade down. jarrett sucks too. rice might be there in the 2nd. so in my opinion just take the best defensive player at 11 and take sidney rice or jason hill with our 2nd pick

No, I do agree they need a true #1 receiver and Calvin Johnson is the best WR to come out of college in the past 10 years. However, we also need to upgrade other spots as well. I believe we should take Okoye (DT), Alan Branch (DT), or Adam Carriker in the first round. It is unlikely Branch will fall to us, and Okoye is still just a bunch of potential. Carriker is the most fitting guy because he has already played for Mike Nolan, and in the senior bowl Nolan like him A LOT. He also can play DT or DE, so he can fit into a 3-4 scheme or a 4-3 scheme. Trading up for Calvin Johnson would take a lot of players/picks. We would have to trade at least our first round pick and at least 2 more picks in the top 4 rounds to get him. Plus maybe a player or two. I think Johnson would be awesome to get but is very unrealistic. I guess we will just have to hope Lelie grows up and becomes a star, and hope our defense holds up.

49ers: Playoff contenders this upcoming year, super bowl champions in two years

I do not think the 49ers ought to trade up because they would ultimately have to give up too much. There will be plenty of talent left when the 11th pick comes around. I don't think they will go after a DE or a WR in the first round. Instead, I think I would have to agree with a lot of the experts who say the team will choose a CB. The secondary has struggled with consistency and two very good corners most likely will be available. Texas' Aaron Ross is a tall (6'1", 193 lbs), athletic corner with good speed (4.4, 40), and Leon Hall of Michigan is fast (4.3, 40), has good cover skills and was highly productive. Either one of these guys will be a good upgrade for the team. Go '9ers!

You are so right. Everyone seems to have them going for Adam Carriker, but WR would be the focus! Alex Smith is gonna need some targets to throw to. Antonio Bryant is gone and was replaced by an enigma in Ashley Lelie. I think the perfect player who should be available when it comes time for the Niners to pick would be Tennessee WR Robert Meachem. He has awesome hands and his workouts at the combine and at Tennessee has shown he has the potential to be a future #1 WR!

Adam Carriker is a good choice, i've also heard Amobe Akoye out of Louisville.

There's no way they'll trade up because they need thier picks and don't like to waste them. I think they'll have a good chance to get Tedd Ginn Jr if they decide to go WR.

they have a few good players who should be available there...i would think maybe ginn if they want a speedy receiver, they also need a LB and defensive line. patrick willis would be a great pick there. best LB in the draft and he runs a 4.37 40. thats a ridiculous time, better than most cornerbacks. also some pass rushers like jamaal anderson or carricker at DE should be there if they go that direction. i don't see them trading up, with the needs they have it would be alot to ask of them to give up picks and/or some solid players for something they can address at NO. 10.

DON'T TRADE UP!
I only saw one game of Johnson's and don't think he is as big as the hype.
Instead, the 49ers should get Dwayne Jarrett from USC. He is unstopable.
Or maybe...they should think about getting a center to back up Heitmann. You can never have too many linemen.

It really does not matter who they draft, they still not gonna make the playoffs. They need to trade the entire team for the Florida Gators or Ohio State, maybe than they'll have a playoff contending team. ....GO COLTS!!!
