I feel like such a dork for asking this question. My cycle is pretty much like clock work. I am due today for my monthly and it hasn't shown up yet. I used a pregnancy test stick this morning, it was a store brand from wal-greens and I received a negative result. Do brands differ? Is one brand more "sensitive" than the other? When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was one day late for my monthly. The next day I took a "first response" test and I was surprised with a positive result LOL.

Cheap tests work just as well as brand names. However, brand names are more likely to have more sensitive test levels allowing you to test earlier. So, if you need to know NOW, stick with a brand name. If you are two weeks late, buy store brand.

The problem with online articles is that they have no dates, but these two links should be helpful. The second one indicates a lot of problems with the new digital tests.

The three times i have been pregnant i used EPT and they have all been correct. I know other people that have used other tests and they worked out well for them. So no the brand doesn't matter at all. Good idea is to go to your Dr. if your not sure of the answer you get on a home test.

Surprisingly, cheap tests purchased at dollar stores or on the Internet are often more sensitive and reliable than expensive store brands. HPT's are like soda: very cheap to make, and marked up quite a bit for retail.

Some are more sensitive... if you want just go get a First Response one. False negatives are more common than False positives so go take another one. Good luck!

I used an E.P.T and it told me that i was pregnant not once but twice and when i went to the doctor and he told me that i was not pregnant but in that week 30 something girls went in because their test said they were having a baby as well. so if you want to take a test all my friends use Frist responce. But try not t ouse E.P.T..... And if your pregnant congrats and if not better luck next time and i hope the best for you..

First response tests for different hormones then other standard tests(which are all the same) which is why it can tell u 4 days sooner.
