Neevar kind of has it right....mostly. My site below under Network Talk, Building the Network has a section devoted to setting up a wireless network as well as a troubleshooting section that will walk you through all of the necessary steps to get it up and running. Hope this helps

You first need to setup the wireless connection... for this install the router (connect all the connections) and then it should start off with a default ssid (network name) use this network name or rename it and connect to the network on your laptop and the pc...

then both the laptop and the pc should be assigned with an IP numbers, use that ip number to access files... you will need to share a folder first.. by default file and printer sharing is disabled on windows.. to enable it create a folder on one of the computers and right click on the folder and click on properties.. goto sharing and click on share this folder.. if it says about all that risk and stuff agree to it...

after the folder is shared you should see a little hand under the folder icon... then go to the othe computer and click on start - run and type in \\ip number where ip number is the computers ip number where the folder is shared....

that should open up the folder but if it doesnt then you should turn off the firewalls and give it a try... to turn off the firewalls right click on the network connections icon and click on change firewall settings ans turn off from the window.... let me know how it went....

all the best....
