I just recently bought a water boiler the one where it boils and you just press the top and it dispenses hot water, but inside the pot has these sandlike things on the side after I boil it.. What is it? Is it from my water?

Tap water has alot of minerals and stuff in it. Thats why instructions for coffee makers or irons recommend you use filtered water. Now that you seen that, think of your water heater, it fills up with that stuff too and it usually accumulates on the bottom and along the sides. it can prevent your hot water from draining, and takes it longer to warm the water, and warms it less. Good idea to drain it once a year to get that stuff out of there. I know I went off topic, but it has to do with that sandy stuff.
