My name is on the lease and I have tried calling the landlord but he hasn't return my calls for weeks. I feel that my spouse has been bad mouthing about me to him and now I think the landlord is on his side. He has also change the lock on me and I can't get in. I have also tried calling the police to escort me to the apartment and I was told by the police that if he refuse to open the door, they can't do anything.

Produce your document (Separation) to the local Police and tell them your situation. In just about all cases they will accompany you, to get your possessions out of the apartment, UNLESS your spouse defies your right to certain property(ies). If so, you will have no choice than to hire a lawyer and file for divorce and or civil actions against him to get what you own "back." In alot of cases, you summoning police will settle the matter as many spouses will give in with their authority along, but then there is the worse case scenario...., I explained....

Well I would contact a police officer. If they can't help you may have to go to the courts. The first thing I would do is call the police. If you are on the lease then I'm sure the appartment manager could let you in...maybe when your spouse is at work? Wish you luck.

Contact your attorney and get a court order allowing you to get your personal items. I would also have a deputy come with me in case the ex starts trouble.

It all depends on where you live. Call your local domestic abuse program, they will be able to help you. Good Luck!
