Good on you for breast feeding. I'm feeding my 3 week old atm, but I'm also a mother of 4. I try to eat more fresh and dried fruit, and yogurt for my snack meals after I feed, or have a warm milk, it really does help keep your energy up, your milk supply and also keep those unwanted extra pounds. Sometimes your body also makes you think your hungry when your really thirsty too, so try drinking more water. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear your gaining weight, I am still breastfeeding my 8 week old but I have lost a stone since having him yet I do eat my 3 meals a day, dont worry too much just eat healthy and maybe try exercising - even if its just taking you baby out in the pram. Good luck!

I had exactly the same problem when I was breastfeeding. I was really hungry all the time, and even though I was eating healthily, I still seemed to stay at the same weight. I spoke to my midwife and she told me that, although the majority of women lose weight whilst breastfeeding, a reasonably sized minority do not until they stop. Lo and behold but when I stopped when my daughter was 10mo, the weight plummetted off me - I went down two dress sizes in three weeks. Exactly the same thing happened to my sister, so prehaps it runs in the family.

Yeah, don't it suck when the literature tells you one thing and the opposite happens?
I ate healthy and stuck to a schedule for eating, but I was always ravenous after feeding the baby and like you if I was hungry my milk wasn't enough, so I would end up eating more.
About the best I can suggest is try to increase your excercise, get out and try to walk about an hr a day or something.

breast feeding takes 500 + calories a day so you must be eating a lot or a lot of junk i suggest you take all the junk out of your house you'll have to soon anyways unless you want to share with the little guy and get things to snack on like oranges and carrot green beans they are great raw me and my sons favorites also snap peas get salad so if you feel like making something you can make that also you probably don't want to cook alot with a new little one see if you can find some quick easy recipes also sandwich meat like turkey is lower in the fattyness and a quick meal i didn't put on any weight when i was nursing but i found out when my son was older and could occupy himself so i could cook a complete meal the weight started melting off

I had the same problem, then I realized it was what I was eating. Don't eat junk food at all, if you are hungry have a light salad, or piece of fruit instead of a sandwich or chips.
don't go without food, just give your body the right kind of food to feed you and your baby, you are still eating for two.

Make sure your eight meals are totally nutritious but half the size. Keep your protiens and liquids high. Take some nice long walks with baby. You're gonna be fine, it won't last forever.

lol maybe there is still one in there. no just kidding maybe try cutting down a little or maybe if its not nutritional, maybe try salads or fruits inbetween meals. it might not go away all at once you may gain but it will hopefully die down soon. congrats. its not because of your milk supply i will let you know that. you dont have 8 lbs of milk
