yes . the safest place to be in such a storm is in your car. the rubber tires protect you .
if you can do that then say on a golf coarse then crouch down not lie down kneel as low as possible with only your shoes touching the ground and get rid of your metal clubs.
other then that being indoors or in a very low spot is the best thing to do.
lightning can certainly kill a person

There is nothing really to be scared of as long as you stay indoors and you are not panicing. As long as you do those two things you should be fine. Lightning is very dangerous so don't take the risk.

As you have read-lighting, can and does kill, also where to be and not to be but-thunder & lighting storms are a beauty all by themselves. To sit on a porch and watch them develop and slowly move your way. To watch the lighting travel from cloud to cloud then cloud to ground is really super to see. Hearing the voice of the storm (thunder) and counting the seconds between flashes & thunder. Ahhh! What a wonderful show of nature and it's all free.

No, not as long as
1) You do not stand under a tree
2) You stay away from the high points in your immediate area.
3) You do not hold a metal object.
4) You avoid buildings with metal exteriors

Being in a car is quite safe

As long as you don't make a habit of standing on your roof holding a lightning rod in one hand.
The chance of getting struck by lightning are almost as unlikely as the chance of winning the lottery -- or is that getting chewed on by a shark -- I forget....

No not unless you're under trees. The safest place to be when there is lightening is in a car. Or in anything that has wheels
