I rarely have a crisis of my own, but now I am, and for some reason, everyone around me is making it about them, and having their sob sessions at me. I'm a supportive person, but come on! I don't expect them to fix my problems, but under the circumstances, they could at least consult someone else about the worst of their emotional burdons for a few weeks while I sort mine out! Why do people do this?

They do what they are doing because you are stepping out of your role as the one with the answers, the calming solution, and the caring ear. Yes... even when it doesn't seem like it, it really is *all about you*. My guess is that you are SO good at your role that lots of folks take you for granted. Been *there*, trying to shovel my way out from under *that*. (my apologies if this is not the case.

I'm pretty damned good with a shovel myself if you happen to need any solace, a sympathetic ear, or just breathing space from all that load of B.S. I escaped from a B.S. laden environ not that many seconds ago... I could use the stress relief if anyone is in dire need of shoveling.

Sorry to hear you are having a crisis. I know that things can get very difficult sometimes. unfortunately there are people in this world who try to make things about themselves all of the time. In our society today there are people who think that the only one things are bad for is them and they let everyone know it.
If I were in your shoes and needed to sort things out I would just politely say to these people...

I understand that things are hard for you right now but there are things that I need to sort out in my life and I need to focus on me and my family first....

If they are true friends they will understand. and just to let you know there are people out there who have an ear open if you need to talk or just vent. Feel free to IM or Email me anytime...

I am sorry to hear that. Most people are all about themselves and their problems they do not see anything else but what goes on in their lives. Its a shame and its not right but this is a ME society and most dont want it to be any different.I hope things get better for you.
