it really depends. i find that every genre of music has it's bad side and it's negative influences. hip hop has some very good artists beyonce, black eyed peas, but there's also the songs that are all about degrading women and violence. then there's the same for rock. there's very good music like fall out boy, gym class heroes, and U2, but there's also the bad like metallica, slayer and all that really heavy music that influences only negative thoughts upon people's minds. even in pop music there's good and bad. natasha bedingfield, mika, jhon mayer and daniel powter, but there's the negative like britney spears, madonna etc. so i don't exactly think it's only hip hop or that it's only music that is a negative influence but it does contribute. music is very influential in general.

Hip-Hop covers a broad genre. Elvis was considered a vulgar musician in his time for his hip movements and lyrics, but now his dancing is accepted at high school proms. Maybe he was a trend setter, like some of our modern musicians. Music lyrics and its dancing will always stay ahead of the acceptable curve. It's how kids have always rebeled against their parents.
