Do You Think Abraham Lincoln Was Stupid?

Question

Abraham Lincoln was stupid because he freed the slaves. Think about it; if we still had slaves today we wouldn't need to work, economy would go up cause workers don't have to be paid, and life would be easier for all of us. Do you agree?

Well since you asked.

You can't tax a slave so in that respect Lincoln was a genius though history has shown this was not his idea merely his burden.

If the country had stayed unified it is doubtful that slavery would have ended when it did, at least not in the United States. Other countries had already abolished slavery so the economic and political shift was on its way throughout the global economy.

I can see where you are heading, welfare, which only arises when you get rid of slavery and the prices of goods and services do not cover the labor cost. So companies can't afford to pay people a living wage and make a profit.

Of course slaves have to be kept alive too. the companies have to pay for keeping the slaves alive and the government treats the slaves as property and taxes the companies based on property and not on income

In short, the government would tax slavery into no existance. Why? Only the rich could afford slaves and only the farms realy needed them. Left unchecked slavery could take over the economy and you would end up with a monarchy as only one person would have enough money to own slaves and he/she would be th government.

At any rate I would have to disagree because I see the world taking a turn for the worse trying to bring back slavery.

Nowadays we say he had "problems." But really the "freeing of the slaves" is an illusion of some kind. Lincoln himself in the Emancipation Proclamation freed THE SLAVES OF THE CONFEDERACY. That is, like the communists today, he freed somebody else's property, and incidentally won the war in that manner, because their army was unable to eat or arm itself for combat, and thus surrendered. Workers of the world unite, because-----you have nothing to lose. Except other peoples property. No wonder the kids giggle and shriek.

Nope because the people that had slaves where like abusing the slaves and over working them so that would just be wrong.....but if the blacks and whites had regular jobs then it would be all cool you know?

No way!!! Would you like to be a slave? People are treated all the same, no matter where they're from or what they're skin color is. It would be unfair and I know a lot of people will not agree.

and no, at some point someone would've freed the slaves, because of enlightenment standards of the time, more and more started veering away from slavery...also, the north wouldn't need them because its industrial, and the south became more industrial so, i think it would've been stupid not to free them.
