I have my certificate in cosmetology...I went to a cosmetology school and did their make up program. I did portfolios and learned EVERYTHING about make up. I'm really interested in working at MAC. Here's the problem:

I'm only 16! I completed the make up art program doing night school after I got home from regular school a couple nights a week. Will they be biast that I'm only 16 years old? I'm really good! What are the requirements to working at MAC? Keep in mind I live in a small town and we only have a small MAC make up counter.

I also have a large portfolio of make up I did for photoshoots in my school, I was one of the best students there although people didn't think I would be at first because of my age. If I sent my portfolio in and they saw how good it was maybe they would consider me for the classes?

first, you have to be at least 18 years old to work at MAC. second, you dont apply in-store, you have to go to the website of the location of the department where the MAC counter is leased. so if the mac counter near you is located in a macy's dept store, then you have to go to the macy's website, look under employment, then see if the mac counter is hiring. if so, then you will be able to apply online. also, if you get called for an interview, then you will be evaluated by the human resources dept of that store, not by an individual who works at MAC.

it helps that you took classes, but i hear MAC will train their artists.

I don't know if they will hire you but great job on getting your life together so quickly. I didn't till I was 27. You should be very proud of yourself. You may want to try good old fashioned persistence. Call them daily until you get an interview. You also might want to ask your school if they can call the company for you and put in a recommendation. Good luck!

According to the MAC website each MAC places is individual on their hiring. So I'd go check with your local MAC counter.

For working at MAC, you need to take their classes and that is if they consider you. I doubt if they do considering your age. Wait til you get a bit older!
