If you're referring to the Yahoo! game literati then your best bet is to go for that game's inspration - SCRABBLE.

There are some slight differences but the rules are pretty much the same - and indeed a few years back friends and I used to sit around and play Scrabble over a pint or two on a sunday afternoon.

As for guides to allowed words - check you local bookstore (or mazon if you;re so inclined) - there have been numerous Scrabble dictionaries released over the years to help solve legal/illegal word arguments.
