Are horoscopes "real?" Well they certaily exist. If what you really mean is, "Can they be used to divine future events?" I suppose that is debatable. Like most things, there are people who believe and people who don't. If they work for you, then go with it until they no longer work for you.
If you wish to know more about the basis of horoscopes, here is the Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horoscope
Hope that helps.

I think they can be.... Sometimes I look at my horoscope and it is EXACTLY what my day has been like, or it could be nothing at ALL like my day. I think the descriptions of horoscopes are almost perfect. Like I have some friends and I read what their descriptions are and it is like "wow, that is exactly like so-and-so" So I think it kind of depends. Of course it isn't always going to be right.... but it might be good advice...... Plus it could get you out of crisis, or it could brighten your mood if your horoscope says "you are going to have a great day, your colleagues are inspired by you and are being very friendly, and your boss is very impressed by your hard work that you have been doing these past few days" So it is pretty my up to you to believe it, or don't!

Daily/weekly horoscopes based on sun signs are the fun side of astrology. They are based on the movement of the planets in the skies and how they relate to people born under a particular sign. If you know your rising sign, read that too and you could find these forecasts relate to that sign too.
Real astrology entails a detailed look at all the planets in the signs and houses of a birth chart and how they relate to each other. The associations to the signs and planets are based on thousands of years of observations. And it's incredibly helpful and accurate.

milly reads buddhist text. when i read mine at the end of the day i can manipulate it so that i relate it to my day too. if you read it at the beginning of the day it doesnt really work out the way you read it and foresee the day. horoscopes and yahoo answers are just ways to kill time.precious time.

Is anything real? You shouldn't depend on other people to make this decision for you. Research, and then form your own opinion. Believe what you believe, and stand by it.

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it.
Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held.
Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books.
Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin.
Believe nothing just because someone else believes it.
Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true
Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
Love & Blessings
Milly
