Yeah, should be able to fit 2 x 256mb or 4 x 128 mb. Maybe even a 512 mb ion t's own. Have to get the right type though.

I think you want to know if increasing your RAM to 512 mb is a good idea.

In some ways it is, but in fact, your processor [Pentium III 500] is very old, and more RAM will not necessarily improve things, because what good does it do to have data stored in RAM, only to have to wait for the old processor to retrieve it?

If you want to know if you can fit 512 mb of ram into your computer, that depends on the motherboard, not the processor. You will have to contact the web site of the mainboard or the manufacturer of the computer to find out how many ram slots it has and how much ram the board will support.

But just off hand, I would say that you should not add in any more ram, as the computer is limited in its performance by the old, slow processor.

Back when P3 was common, 256MB dimm/simm chips were common. Most of the machine can fit these sticks. If you have two slots, you can bring it up to 512MB and if you ahve four slots, you can do 1024MB.

You need to check with the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard to be sure. I've done it to most of my P3s and they are Compaqs and Dells.

We need to know your motherboard, not what processor you're using. What specific model motherboard do you have? Feel free to email or IM me with a follow-up.

i suggest you dump a gallon of gasoline onto the case and then smoke near it as much as possible. the extra heat should make it run like a brand new computer!
