She realized at the big race that Danny was the kind of person who would risk his life for a friend, who would sacrifice his time to make her happy, and who would not ever hurt her on purpose.
So she thought if he was willing to go to all this trouble for others why shouldn't she go through a little inconvenience for him. Besides the school year was over and if she planned on staying with him it was about time she started to blend in with his friends.

She didn't turn trashy, she turned 50's leathers and all to sex it up for danny, she had competition with the really trashy looking Rizzo, dress and all Rizzo looked trashy......

...but Danny turned into a prep to be just like her.
They wanted to be like one another in order to seem more compatible with one another.

she did that cause that's how much she cared for him. she was willing to change to what she felt he liked to have him. and there's a flip side to this coin:Danny changes for her as well...remember he becomes a Letterman in Track for Sandy and admits that to his friends.
