How do I resolve this? Our agreement was verbal, not written, regarding the commission part. I would not have accepted this position without the added income from commission, and I am ready to walk away if I have to, but I'd like to be diplomatic and be a grown up about it. I spoke to my boss and he said it sounds like we may have had a miscommunication. What do I do now? Another conversation, or a letter, or talk to his boss?

Have another conversation - if he's firm that there will be no commision, then just do the mature thing. Tell him that there was a miscommunication and that you would not have accepted the postion without believing there was a commision so you must quit. Give him the address to send your paycheck for any time you've put in to this point.

Quit. No need to try being diplomatic. Yes, it could have been a miscommunication' but I doubt it. I bet if you talked to other people they have had the same 'miscommunication' with the same job. I firmly believe if a job is not represented to you honestly - no need for notice!!!!

Of course, I probably would not list it on my resume if I only worked there 3 days.

If there has been a "miscommunication" regarding something as fundamental as compensation, you are in for nothing but trouble. I suggest you cut your losses now.

I wouldn't be diplomatic, this is not what you agreed to when you were hired. I would quit and leave him hanging and I would put in a call to his boss and explain what you just told us. He knew exactly what he had agreed to.

Start looking for another job since you have nothing in writing. Verbal commitments mean nothing and are not legally binding.

It's hard it could be your word against his and may not go anywhere if you seek legal counsel.
