I like a lot of the answers dealing with camo, vines, pots etc., but I would add mushrooms to the stump. Some for food, some for health and some for fun. There are many companies selling kits to grow gourmet, medicinal and novelty mushrooms on stumps, you can even grow one that glows in the dark! Even if you don't have kids in need of a science fair project you can add some depth to your own gardening experience, check out "Fungi Perfecti" to get you started. RScott

If the stump isnt too tall, you can buy a 1/2 whiskey barrel and just cut out the bottom of it so that you can place it over the stump. Then put topsoil with compost in it and plant some plants.
It will not look like you are covering up a stump and in time the stump will decompose and will become compost for the whiskey barrel.

Depending on how much is left of the stump, this is what me and my mom did last summer:
Took an old car wheel and painted it green with pink flowers (regualr acrylic art paint) and put it over the stump (stump cant be too big)
We planted flowers in the middle of the wheel with dirt ontop of the stump and theyre coming in nice already!

Go to lowes and get a round stepping stone. Put it on the tree stump and make a table out of it. Put a little statue on it. Or a flower pot.

Dig an area around it to plant some flowers in, and place a pot of flowers on the stump. It will look nice.

employ a stump grinder. person-friendly to apply. only fill the holes decrease back in with the grindings. Use left over grindings for mulch. reckoning on length, will in problem-free words take 1/2 an hour for small stumps, to some hours for large ones. in case you are able to't locate an section to employ one, contact a community tree service to grind it out and tell them you'll fill the holes decrease back in and shelter the clean up. you receives a good damage on fee that way.

I can tell you how to rid yourself of this stump. Drill large holes in it and keep them full of saltpeter for six month or so then ignite it. It will then burn down below ground level. This is a slow but very effective way to remove stumps that has ben tried and proved.

here are a few different ideas:
-hollow it out with a chainsaw or some other tool, fill it with dirt, and turn it into a planter.
-plant flowers around it and use it as a base. attach a wooden pole with hangers and hang birdfeeders. you can let vines grow up the pole.
-use it as a base for a bird bath.

We had two in our back yard. My husband took a drill, hammer and chisel and got the wood out of the center of them. We then put potting soil in them and put flowers in it. It looked very unusual and very pretty.

Use it as a pedistal for a pretty planter and place other plants around it in a ring. The more variety you use, the more natural it will look.
