If the problem is:

x times (5/2) = 243
then divide each side by (5/2)
x = 97.2

If the problem is:

x raised to the (5/2) power = 243
then raise both sides by (2/5)
and x = 9

Raise both sides to the 2/5 power

The 5th root of 243 = 3 since 3^5 = 243

x = 243^2/5 = 3^2 = 9

You raise each side of the equation to the reciprocal power:

x^(5/2) ^ (2/5) = 243 ^(2/5)

x = the fifth root of 243, squared (always remember, a fractional exponent is POWER/ROOT -- do the root first, it makes the numbers smaller right of the bat ). So the 5th root of 243 is 3, then square it --> 3^2 = 9

Divide both sides by 5/2.

x = 243 divided by 5/2

x = 97.2
