I am feeling so sick about this story! How can this woman do this THREE TIMES? What is wrong with people. I personally know a couple who is having a hard time conceivinf their own child, with so many people willing to care for children, what mother could do such horrible thing? As a mother and fellow human being I am more than appalled!

I cannot understand it, either. Not with the abandoned baby rule. The only thing I can think of is that the mother is too far away from one of those dropoff sites, is not able to drive or get there in any other way, and is, perhaps, too young, and is the victim of a sexually abusive male relative.

Yes, somebody must know something and hopefully they will find the miserable excuse for a human being that did this. Especially when you can bring the child to any hospital emergency room and give it up, no questions asked. One can take a real close look at some of the things human beings do, but I wouldn't advise it. It is the stuff nightmares are made of, and your particular story is just a blip on the radar screen. Yes, more than appalling. Downright disgusting.

Unfortunately, some people are sociopaths and are unable to empathize with or recognize the feelings of another... even their own newborn child.

Many communities have laws where a newborn child can be dropped off at a hospital with no questions asked to avoid outcomes such as these.

Hopefully the mother gets psychiatric help and this does not happen a fourth time.

I agree it is appalling that with birth control available for free at any health clinic that a woman who's not willing to take responsibility for her actions would not take advantage of this free service. I don't know about California, but the state I live in, allows a woman to leave a new born at any hospital or fire station NO QUESTIONS ASKED, and no legal repercussions. I feel no sympathy toward this woman at all, and if caught she should serve life in prison.

In my state, there is a similar but sadder news story going on. A city on the Mississippi (I can't remember which) has had three babies wash up on their shores in eight years. All have been by the same mother.

Can you imagine that? Fully carrying your child to term, them dumping it in a river to drown? That's worse, because the child is guaranteed to die.

If there's actually that many people who is will take care of a child, then why are there still million of childrens waiting to being adopt?

Don't you think it's a bit selfish of people wanting only new born, not someone who is bit older like 3 to 6?

i am a ma and granma. i cant understand why or how people do this. is it an act of desperation or downright depravity?? i doubt we will ever know. all we can do is raise our daughters to value life, with morals that reach higher then an alleycat. i blame the mom of the babies for what she did to them but i blame HER MOM more for how she raised her daughter. lifes a circle. hopefully the babies that survived will grow up to be better people.

Other people live totally different lives that we can hardly begin to understand. Don't assume malice or callousness when desperation might also be an explanation.
