Americans are running around being targets for the muslims to attack. They think they are fighting terrorist and making Iraq a peaceful place but they would have to kill every muslim there to do it. They say the muslim religion is a peaceful religion but yet they go around chopping heads off and hanging 17 yr old girls who try to defend themselves from rape.
Islam a peaceful religion??? Millions of these sons-of-bitches are plotting as we speak to destroy our country and our way of life any way they can. Some of them are here among us now. They don't want to convert you and don't want to rule you. You are a vile infestation of Allah's paradise. They don't give a crap how "progressive" you are, how peace-loving you are, or how much you sympathize with their cause. They want you dead, and think it is God's will for them to do it. Some think if we give them a hug or listen to them, then they'll like us... and if you agree? Then you are a Idiot!
If they manage to get their hands on a nuke, chemical agents, or even some anthrax -- you will wish to God we had hunted them down and killed THEM while we had the chance. Stop bitchin' about your damn Health Care, Social Security, Gas prices, and your measly 4.50% unemployment rate...and start worrying about you, your family's, and your friends' asses.
How many more Americans must be beheaded. You've fallen asleep AGAIN, morons! And you may not get another chance!

The most obvious answer to "who are we fighting" is that we're fighting radical religious terrorists who are raining down destruction not only on foreigners, but also on their own countrymen. But the less obvious answer -- and most overlooked policy concern -- is that we're fighting a war of ideas. Democratic rule vs. religious tyranny. Personal freedom vs. ideological enslavement. Diverse civil society vs. an enforced Islamofascist ideal.
There are two ways that "success" can be guaged. The first is the extent to which we can empower the Iraqis to be self-governing and self-policing. When enough Iraqi citizens gets fed up with their countrymen shedding civilian blood, they can rise up and seize power from the so-called "insurgents." The second way success can be guaged is how free the Iraqis become to have a diverse society where different religious factions can live in peaceable civility -- what we'd call civil society in the U.S. This does not mean that they'll ever agree, merely that they can co-exist.
Sadly, our focus on military strength in this war overlooks some less obvious, and less expensive, tools -- such as a Radio Free Iraq or other public diplomacy tools -- that would complement our armed efforts to eradicate terrorists and keep the population safe.

Cockroaches.
You have success when the cockroaches stop coming into your house for good. It's not good enough to get rid of enough of them so you don't see them so much, or just enough to keep the problem away for a day or a week or a month. You want the problem solved and you'll keep trying different things until you know the cockroaches aren't going to bother with you, because you know that living with cockroaches is not a healthy way to live your life. At that point you should be willing to "clean house" of your own to make sure it's not you who is feeding the cockroach.
As a country why should we do different?
Should we call the exterminator? NO.
Typically the exterminator only kills the cockroaches. It is you who have to prevent them from coming back.
The only sure way to make sure that the cockroaches come back is to ignore the problem, walk away from it, give up.
Make them think they've beat you is as good as feeding them.

We are fighting a war that never should have happened. All I see is the deaths of many soldiers from all over the world, as well as many innocent victims....men, woman, children from Iraq. Bush's war with Iraq will never be successful. G.W.has lied to all the parties involved in this farce of a war. He and Cheney could care less about our soldiers, plus the many countless massacres that have occurred during these 5 years. I think Bush & Cheney should be impeached. I think it is long overdue to removed them from office. They have ruined the USA and the countless other countries. They shall receive their just punishment for their evil deeds at the hands of our creator.

wow. Love the moronic answers for this one. the REAL people we are fighting are IRAQIS. Shi'ites and Sunni groups. We are in the middle of a civil war between the two. the pres pretends it's someone else, the press USE to say insurgments, but if you read more they are starting to tell the truth now IRAQI insurgements (usually with their group name-shi'ites or sunni). There is NO success, unless we murder a entire group (shi'ites or sunni) as the civil war will continue for years/decades/centuries.
It has already been PROVEN no terrorist are there, there are NO mass weapons of destruction, there was NO threat until we invaded.
Just look up the truth, it's all over the place, even the local news.

We are fighting terrorists.
We measure our success when we restore freedom to the people of Iraq. We are well on our way.

I really don't know, but I wish we would spend more time on getting Iraqis working. It seems like if they were working, making money, spending money, and rebuilding their economy/infrastructure, they would spend less time running around trying to kill each other. I just want my husband to come home.
