I recently auditioned for a show, and I didn't get a part. I have never not been cast in a show i auditioned for. I know that sounds like i'm bragging, but i'm just wondering if anyone else has felt this same disappointment. And how you got over it quicker.

cry cry cry some more. Nothing is worse than being told that you aren't good enough. However i suggest you get over by doing what you do best. Audition again. Find another show. Look in your local paper for community theatres. I did that once. I was so upset, inconsolable. However if I did get that part I wouldn't have been given the oppurtunity to be in the best play I've ever been in.

Every actors has that...it's part of acting. I suggest you record yourself at an audition, most actors have habits they don't even know about. Like not standing up straigh, putting their hands in their pockets, crossing their legs, etc. Then fix the problems and get critiques. Sometimes you get these habits without knowing them. Either that, or maybe the competition was more fierce than you're used to? Sometimes you act on a certain level for so long, and then when you finally get to a higher level it's harder to get parts because people are on the same level as you instead of below it.

Get some kleenex and rent "A Chorus Line". Feel the pain when they choose the dancers for the show, cry happy tears for the people who get in, and sad ones for the ones who didn't.

Don't give up, polish your act, smile, smile, smile. The next show is right around the corner!

I must say I know how you feel! I was always taller than the guys in my high school musicals, so even tho I was the best singer, I only got the "character" parts....ie: the wacky spinster or whatever. And there's always crew........

I felt the same way, what I did was I joined the Stage Crew, that way I was still a part of the show and I got to take a bow at the end (plus, you get to see all the shows for free if you are on stage crew).

So, moral of the story, join the Stage Crew!
