I keep seeing this ant-like insect in my backyard. It's similar to an ant but has a longer, thin abdomen. It's striped, black and a lighter color. It's solitary and has a terrible 'sting'. I think it's actually a bite not a sting. They are quick movers. I only see them in my back yard which is under a very large oak tree. It's sandy and shady. This is not a velvet ant. I can't seem to find any info on this insect. Any ideas? I'm in central Florida.
