Babies need tummy time. They have to get used to that position for them to be able to crawl. Not all babies like it. The thing is you have to put them on their tummies even if it's only for a few minutes. Do it till he cries. Eventually he will be able to stay on his tummy longer. Trust me it takes some babies longer to get used to that position then others.

My son hated it too. He was one those babies that had to see everything and everyone! He was holding his head up the day he was born! He never did crawl but he was running at seven months. His doc didn't have a problem with it and he was a much happier baby when he was held upright or in his swing. I know that some parents fuss over the tummy time, but not all kids like it. We had one of those exersaucer things he loved it. I could put him in there- once he was strong enough to sit on his own- and get things done around the house. Do what you think is best, but My son didn't have much tummy time and he did just fine .

My son is like that as well. Every child is different so if your baby doesn't like tummy time don't force it.My son is now 5 months and now he rolls over and stay on his tummy for a couple a seconds and he rolls back on to back again. He sits up and stands on his own but hates tummy time!!ha ha

No it's not ok to skip tummy time. Babies really need to get used to be on their bellies, even if it's for 5 minutes. He's still very young and eventually he will do it longer and it will be beneficial to your son when it's time to learn to crawl.

Suggestion (if you are not already doing this): Place him over a boppy with his head and arms hanging over and place toys in front of him.

my daughetr did the same thing and i desided to skip tummy time now i am afraid she is behind devlopmentaly. at 8 months old she has just now began to sit on her own, and rooled from back to frount for the first time yesterday! she refuses to be seated in her playpen for more than five min. she has yet to evean try to crawl and i am working day in and out to help her hit her mile stones. i suggest evean thought he objects give him at least 5 min of tummy time while interacting with him...speak in happy tones and let him know that tummy time is a good thing! it will really help him later...

I have three sons and none of them really liked tummy time that much. One thing that I did though that kinda helped them get their tummy time in was I would lay on my back and lay them on me, tummy to tummy. They get to stare at the most beautiful woman they know while she talks to them. They didn't seem to notice so much that they were on their tummies.

Believe me, my daughter did the SAME exact thing!! She was almost walking before she was rolling over. I think she just started rolling over before she started walking. And she is absolutely wonderful now!! There isn't a problem with your son doing that! All babies do everything at their own pace. Just keep doing what you are doing, and everything will be fine. Encourage him a little everyday like you are doing, but also encourage him to stand!

My 10 week old son hates it too!! He sits well with his head held high, but can't stand being on his belly for long. I don't think you should worry, as long as he is using his neck muscles in other ways, and can hold his head up:) Congrats on the babe!!!

MY SON HATED TUMMY TIME TOO, BUT I KNEW IT WAS ESSENTIAL TO BUILDING HIS MUSCLES TO BE ABLE TO ROLL OVER AND SIT UP AND HOLD HIS HEAD UP. JUST DO SMALLER AMOUNTS OF TIME MORE OFTEN. LIKE 5 MINUTES 4X A DAY. DON'T LET HIM NOT HAVE TIME THOUGHT, IT WILL ONLY HURT HIM

I would say, sometimes it's okay, but not all the time! Babies that age don't like it on their stomach for some reason. But, it helps them with gas and to build their muscles! So, keep trying, he will get used to it eventually!
