By asking "will it be scenic" tells me that your trip is going to take longer than anyone here estimates.

The 2800 or so miles could take around 45 hours if you just stopped for gas and a pee.

Now, if you want "scenic", this entails possibly going off course to visit some "scenes"...add that to the time.

If you decide to stop and spend the night (certainly a good idea of course) to get some sleep...add that to the time.

I'd say a "leisurely" trip, driving around 60mph on the highway, including some stops and rest could take around 4-5 days.

Roughly, it will take about 2 days.
Personally I would take Route 66.
Go to www.aaa.com, or call your local AAA office and they can help you with a Trip Ticket that will guide you through rest stops, gas stations and generally they are really good about knowing where construction is at on the state roads.
