My pediatrician recommends formula only until the baby turns one. However, if it's inconvenient to give formula, like if you're out somewhere, real juice diluted 50 percent with water is okay once in a while once the baby is around 6 months old.

I think the standard for this week is 6 months.

If it is the first try for the infant, give them just a tablespoon of juice in about 3-4 oz of water.

As with any other food, make sure this is the only new thing you introduce to your infant for the next 4 or 5 days so that if they have a reaction, you can pinpoint what caused it.

Many pediatricians say never. When the baby is old enough to actually eat the fruit, give them that instead. Otherwise milk (and if they are over a year, water is fine as well). This is due to the juice laying on the teeth and causing decay. A baby can get water intoxication, but I don't know at what age exactly this becomes a non-concern which is why I say a year.

Juice isn't really needed from a nutrition stand point. My daughter is 11 months old and I just this week started giving her a splash of juice in her water for taste.

I just started giving my 7month old son juice. I just use half water and half juice and he has been doing fine w/it. No upset stomache or anything.

6 MONTHS BUT IF YOU BUY BABY JIUCE LIKE GERBER, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DILUTE IT. IT IS ALREADY READY FOR CONSUMTION BY BABIES. ONLY DILUTE ADULT JUICES. MY 8 MONTH OLD SON ISN;T TAKING TO JUICE THOUGH!
