Myself i would go with the tampons because it doesnt feel like iam wearing a diper and u dont notice that much and with pads leave bad smells in the air if u dont change it much.pads are for night if u ask me because then u dont leaks and stains in ur underwear or sheets.but what makes u happy is a plus.make sure u stand up to the reasons and how come that is in imporant also.if u do go with tampoons go with plasic not carboard.

No. Youre mom's retarded. Yes. No again. Do whatever feels right for you.

I started wearing tampons at 14 or 15, and was using them exclusively by 16 *which isn't best, in the end, but once youve gone diaper free you DON'T wanna go back. ever* My mother was convinced tampons were not a great idea, too, but that's because she was raised in a time when pads were the only good option. The idea of wearing something inside to catch the blood is more than a little weird for some people, and of course all mothers want little carbon copies of themselves.

Is she religious? She might be crazy and see having to deal with pads as part of the punishment placed on women by god for eating the fruit of knowledge in the Garden of Eden. Religious nuts think a lot of crazy things.

Go on, hit your local drugstore and think thin with a smooth, plastic applicator. Once it's in right, you won't even notice it. My first time I had to use a gigantic tampon with a cardboard applicator, and that wasn't quite fun...

There is not an appropriate age. It really is what you want to do. I believe that tampons have more advantages than pads. You can go swimming with a tampon, play sports more easily, if you change in a locker room during gym no one will notice, and i think they are more sanitary. To me i don't really like the feeling of sitting in blood, but that is your choice. The only downfall to tampons is that TSS is related to tampon usage, make sure you read on this and know what you are getting into. If you need help persuading your mom check out this site and search to find out answers and what TSS is.

If you were my daughter I would talk to you about tampons and how they work before I said you couldn't use them. Some people can not use them because they can cause infections in some women. Tampons are a touchy subject because it can be uncomfortable talking about the insertion, and you may need help. Maybe your mom is just not ready for this and maybe she doesn't think you are either. Wait until the summertime and ask again on a nice day when you want to go swimming, maybe she will change her mind.

I think that as long as your comfortable wearing them you should be able to, especially if you're going to be swimming or doing something where a pad would get in the way or uncomfortable. Just make sure that you don't leave them in to long or you could get VERY VERY sick. I think you're not supposed to use them for overnight or for longer than a couple of hours at a time without changing to a new (clean) one. Perhaps your mom is a little distraught over you using them because it's putting something inside you, lol. Mommies can be weird that way. Just explain that you'd like to wear them if you had to wear certain clothes (like a cheerleading uniform or bathing suit), doing certain activities that require lots of movement (pads can shift causing leaks) or something along those lines.

Tampons can be more uncomfortable than pads. Especially for virgins, which I hope you still are.

I began wearing tampons at 14 because the summer rolled around and who likes to sit by the pool and watch all their friends jump in. I would wear one everytime I went swimming, but would immediately switch to a pad when I got home.

WARNING: I had to practice to learn how to insert and pull them out. I went through a whole box of Tampax slenders before getting it right. (MY aunt even had to help me pull one back out) yeah embarrassing...lol

whatever u want, it doesn't really matter, i'm 14 and i've been using tampons since i started, it doesn't make any difference just as long as u feel more comfortable. Personally, ive tried pads and tampons feel more comfortable and descreet, so u might want to try them once or twice, but if u don't want to, just stick with pads. it's ur choice, not ur mom's

I used a tampon at 12. You can use one whenever you are ready. I hate to wear pads. I guess I'm just concerned that your mom thinks it's her business or even her choice as to what you use. You are still a virgin after you use a tampon.

i don't think you can be to young at all as long as you have started puberty. tampons are really necessary while being in the water swimming because obviously, you cant wear a pad.

there isn't an age that is "too young" it's a personal choice, neither is better but most women/girls prefer tampons, so if you want give them a try and see how you like them, if you don't want to or you don't like them, stick to pads
