I AM HERE TO DEFEND THE PARENTS OF THE KIDS WITH PHONES!!!!
i have 2 kids, both boys,one is 20 months old and the other is 7 years.
for my eldests next birthday, i will be giving my son a mobile. not a new one or an expensive, top of the range thing. just my old motorola. WHY? because he is playing out more for longer.
don't get me wrong, he is only 7, and is not allowed to cross the road alone,or leave teh street, i absolutly must know who's house he is playing in, (i know all the kids and their parents,from school) he is in the house for five pm at the moment and on his 8th that will go up to half past.
so for peace of mind, that he will always be able to get hold of me, the police or an ambulance in emergencies. with all the problems there is now, i think they are a god send to parents. who like me, want to teach kids independance, but want to know they are safe too.

Kids have more money than previous generations. When I was in middle school I barely knew what a cell phone was. Now only a couple years later my brother who is like 13 is glued to his cell.

I just recently got a cell phone and I am 19, cell phones should be only used when really needed. I am not the type of person who like's talking on phones, I prefer face to face conversations.

Well... I am in Jordan... The population no. is about 5.5million and the last statistics show that there is about 4.5 million Mobile Lines activated in Jordan that means nearly 81% of the Jordanians have mobiles and i will deduct about 10% to consider the forigners ..so as total there is 70% of Jordanians have a mobile... so i don't feel bad for the one who doesn't have a mobile becasue he will get one when he grow up..

Well, now parents usually get a cell phone for their kids to keep them ammused because they dont want to . For example, i went to the Verizon store and the sales guy said that earlier a mom and dad came in and bought their 8 year old daughter a cell phone! They did not even block texting or anything. Its pretty sad...But not all parents do this. Like my mom got my sis a cell for her sweet sixteen.

When cell `phones became so small in size, they were welcomed by parents as a `safety tool`, so that they would always be able to keep in touch with their child. However,no one seemed to to have expected the `mania` that they have bought with them. The children must cost their parents a small fortune what with all their calls and texting to each other!

Lots of kids have cells. Most of them have them cuz they think it makes them look cool and there parents let them. Others have them cuz they need to keep in touch with their parents because they have sports or want to make last minute arrangments.
Then some kids dont have them because well their parents wont let them and they're too young.
For the kids that have cell phones please dont rub it in. Its just a phone!

Most kids dont have a cell phone, alot of them actaully bourow from there partents.
Besdes that alot of partens allow there kids to get pay as you go phones to teach them how to mange money and time. besides being able to call the kid up anytime is an added bonous.

Kids in school have cellphones because they want to be cool. I am not saying that you want to be cool, so don't get me wrong. You might want to be cool, you might not. But anyways, they might want to be just like their friends. Mostly they beg their parents to get them one or maybe someone's parents are divorced and want them to communicate with them an easier way then just calling home. But don't feel bad for the ones who don't have a cellphone. There time will come.
