Would you rather see the US lose the war in Iraq to prove your side right, or see the US win the war in Iraq to prove your seid wrong?

Those are the only questions.

If you feel the need to twist it into something along the lines of "We won't win" or "We can't win", your answers are not needed.

Only rare extremists would want us to lose in Iraq not the average Democrat or Liberal.

If we can't win this war by ANY means, what does that tell you?

I don't know where you people get the idea that we can still *somehow* (and magically) turn this quagmire upside down into some Happy-Happy, Joy-Joy democracy for the benefit US-held business interests at the expense of the average American tax-payer.

But I'm here to tell you, we aren't going to win this war no matter what Bush does, thinks, or says. He lost the moment he decided that the UN was irrelevant, the moment that he declared that "major combat operations in Iraq" was over, and the moment he decided to forego security for Iraq's people by stupidly disbanding hundreds of thousands of competent government and military personnel, AND by putting in unqualified cronies and lackies in positions of power--when they neither had the experience nor were QUALIFIED to be in that position.

But above all, there was no plan for this war, no plan for the outcome, and no flexibility to deal with ANYTHING that went down following the ouster of Saddam Hussein on a pack of lies.

So this is reality for you and me. I know you won't like it. You'll hate me for it for the rest of your life, and you'll only call me a "traitor" to the cause of the PNAC and the Bush regime's New World Order doctrine.

But I'm used to it.

You are not.

Then your question will not be answered. You're incredibly funny... Even though I do not consider myself democrat or liberal, I still believe your question is ridiculous. You don't have to be democrat or liberal to believe that the war waged on Iraq was a mistake. In fact, many republicans and conservatives disagree about the war.

Because I am a patriot, I believe that we should withdraw from Iraq to spare innocent lives and tax dollars from being lost. It's not about victory or losing.... Reducing it to such is juvenile. Withdrawing does not mean defeat. It means that we recognize a mistake and are willing to correct it.

It's nearly impossible to win because we're not really fighting AGAINST a country. We're fighting IN a country against "insurgents," individuals who reject our presence in Iraq.

The United States should only use force to defend our country. In Bush and, obviously, your ideology, we should fight for victory.... If that is the case, and it seems the case, then we should withdraw in a timely matter before more damage is done not only to our reputation as a country but to the men and women serving our nation. The war in Iraq is not about the defense of our democracy. The war in Iraq is a mistake; it is unjust.

This war is a quagmire. How many have to die before you are satisfied? Your question is based on ego. We went there under a web of lies. Billions of dollars are missing and unaccounted for. Read up on the 363 tons of cash sent there. Where did it go. Anybody can wrap up in the flag and sing the national anthem but that does not make you any more a patriot than it makes you seem like you have good sense. Supporting the troops means stopping this Bush insanity. He is a little coward that cannot admit he is wrong. He did not have the guts to go to Viet Nam. He sends people to die for Halliburton contracts and oil. This is not a win or lose situation. This never should have happened. Don't you dare tell me love it or leave it. I love this country but I don't love what Bush has done to it. People have the right to disagree and most of the country disagrees with his judgement. He is out of touch with reality and you are too.

Please define "lose the war in Iraq".

Would winning require every last Sunni and Shiite to peacefully accept the other's views and politics? Surely we should be able to do that in no time.

Democracy requires that the voting minority accept the rule of the voting majority. In Iraq, the voting minority is acting under the belief that they can kill enough of the majority to become the ruling majority.

Typical Civil War. Our presence will neither help nor hinder, so why stay?

We've already won the war. The Iraqi's just can't stop losing it.

Iraq is a no win conflict.

But a good place to have a military presence. I forget the Marine Generals name that said "Get out of Baghdad." But when he testified before the Senate it made sense.

I support the Basra Base proposal. It is a perfect location for a Joint Force Rapid Deployment Base.

I also support getting out of Saudi Arabia. Another reason for a large Basra Base.

well... win... of course...

but, WHAT if that's not an option? has a Republican ever actually looked at the situation? do you know who is fighting?

Democrats don't seem to think you can "win" a civil war when you aren't even part of the country... it would be like if france came over and started shooting everyone on both sides during our civil war and said they weren't going to leave until we stopped fighting...

do you really think that would have stopped the fighting?

do you ever notice how Republicans NEVER mention facts when talking about the war? it's all rhetoric... that's the only thing that supports their ideas...

As I see it the "Iraqi Government" and the "Iraqi Army" are agents of the Sunni Majority. They are aligned with Iran. So If we win Iran wins.
They are fighting the Sunni Minority which is supporting Al quieda. Supported by our Saudi Allies and Foriegn Fighters from throughout the Arab World.
If we leave the Shiites will continue to fight the Sunni. Without us the Foriegn Fighters and Al Quieda will leave and there will be peace.

I'm not an extremist and I never want to see my country lose a war. I also never want to see my country taken into a war that doesn't have to be fought again.
I have a question for you. What if we would have gone into Afghanistan, secured it and told the world, now see what you get?
