There are many ways to come up with ideas for a comic strip but if its just a one shot project and not something you'd be doing for a long while, just stick some words with some adjectives and verbs in a bag and shake it up and pull them out and see what ideas you come up with. Some really cool ones happen randomly sometimes.

I am sure you have read many comic strips. What did you like about them.
Use that information for your languages arts class.

What are you good at drawing?
.......Try and find a decent T-shirt saying, then revolve the comic around that. Easy enough, right?
