Do i need my old phone line if i am switchin to vonage and using a DSL internet servie?

Do i need a seperate phone line so i can get online with my dsl? or will it go through vonage?

DSL service uses the same line as your phone, but it's not related to having a dial tone. Vonage uses the internet to place phone calls, so it will actually be going through your DSL not the other way around. You need to be careful though, if you're getting your DSL from a land line phone provider. They likely require you to have working phone service with them to be eligible for their DSL service, and that would defeat the purpose of getting the Vonage service.

If you have DSL, it goes through the phone line to get into your house. This is quite a confusing situation, because the phone jack that your DSL is connected too still needs to be connected. But then if you want to have Vonage all over your house, you would want to unplug the phone company and plug in your Vonage.... This is an extremely confusing setup. Why would you switch to Vonage if you have DSL for your internet? If you would like to get Vonage, you should get cable/fiber internet, because DSL makes it confusing and defeats the purpose.

If you have dsl vonage will use that line so no you will not need your phone line. But do check to make sure that if you get you dsl from the same place that you have your phone might be different.

Definitely not. Your Vonage service uses your cable line to access the internet. Your DSL uses your normal phone line.

you need an active phone line to recieve your dsl on, other than that you dont need anything else

no, DSL will not tie up the phone line like dialup. you do not need a separate line.
