First of all, what type of chemical reaction are you referring to? There are four basic types of chemical reactions.
This shows the addition of sodium (Na) and chloride (Cl) to form sodium choride or what is commonly known as table salt: 2Na(s) + Cl2(g) --> 2NaCl(s) This is an example of combination reaction.
This is the equation for the electrolysis of water (H2O) to gaseous hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O): 2H2O --> 2H2 + O2 This is called decomposition.
This is another example: Silver nitrate solution (AgNo3) has a piece of copper (Cu) placed into it: 2 AgNO3 + Cu --> Cu(NO3)2 + 2 Ag This is known as single replacement reaction.
In this equation, the iron (Fe) and hydrogen (H) trade places, or the oxygen (O) and chlorine (Cl) trade places: Fe2O3 + 6HCl --> 2FeCl3 + 3H2O. This is an example of an exchange reaction or double replacement reaction.
Note: All the chemical equations are balanced.

Manganese Dioxide and Hydrogen Peroxide mixed together. You can tell because it begins to produce a gas, and you can also tell that hydrogen is the gas produced if you light a match and stick it in the air above the solution it will light, and hydrogen is the only flammable gas out of these. Hope this helped!
