Hello again Charles G,
MacBook is a good laptop, but a MacBook Pro is a little faster, more powerful, and more expensive. It really all depends on what you want to do with it. Any kind of pro type stuff; graphic design, pro-movies, or pro-music, then go with the MacBook Pro. Also, if you want to keep this Mac for quite awhile, get the MacBook Pro and you won't have to upgrade as often as a Dell.
As far as a 15" or 17", that also depends upon your personal preferences. I would recommend you going into a Macintosh dealer and try out the different sizes and see what you like. I have a 15" Macintosh PowerBook and this screen size is just right for me and yet small enough so that it's easy to carry around.
Congratulations for choosing a Macintosh, Charles.

I agree with the other guys...which machine you need really depends on what you plan to do with it. I've heard nothing but good reports about either of these machines (after Apple had a few start-up glitches).
I have a 15" Powerbook G4 and I'm wanting to upgrade before too much longer. And the 15" laptop is large enough for me, yet small enough to be really portable.

It all depends on how much money you wish to spend. If you want a bigger screen or a larger hard disk, you're going to have to spend more money.
Personally, I love my 15" MacBook Pro.

Depends what you are going to be using it for
macbook (cheaper, slower, less rugged and more likely to break)
macbookpro (faster, built stronger, few more options)
