In a paper i'm writing, i said this:

Upon evaluating how fish evolved to live on land, the gap between Eusthenopteron and Ichthyostega can be tightened based on the latest research publishings.

spelling check keeps telling me that i'm wrong! i'm talking about more than one publishing...like multiple research papers that have been published.

what's the right way to spell it?

You're looking for "publications."

Publishing is a verb, which cannot be pluralized. Publication(s), however, is a noun.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Btw, there is no apostrophe when pluralizing, only for ownership and shortened forms.

You can't pluralize a verb, which publishing is. You will want "publications", more than one published thing.

Publishing isn't a noun.

Singular would be "publication"
Plural would be "publications."
