My mother-in-law is absolutely nuts! She does everything that she can to set me off. Just a month ago, after my second child was bor, she was sending me threateneing e-mails, informing me that I am a bad mom for not allowing my kids to go anywhere with her, and that she ha sthe authority as grandma to take them basically wherever she pleases. The thing is that they are both daily drunks, and I have not ever seen either of them sober, for any occasion. Well, now we are moving from FL to GA, and get this; SHE IS FOLLOWING US!!! As soon as my hubby told them the news, they began searching for homes in the area in which we are to be renting. They are planning to leave a week after us. How do I escape them? She keeps me stressed, and I am absolutly sick of all the drinking and the drama!

My in- laws are just as horrible. My husbands Mom and dad are divorced so I got 2 groups of ignorant, crazy idiots. I went through the same thing. One half of his family have never been within 2 inches of my son ( who is 6 ) they said they wished me and the baby would die. And his mothers side are compulsive liars and manipulators. We don't have much to do with them. You and your husband need to have serious chat. You need to tell him what this is doing to you and your family. Because it will destroy who you are if it keeps on. My husband visits his Mother every so often but only to visit his step-dad.Negativity will drag you down and eventually eat you up with stress and hate. Its a lost cause to tell your in laws what you think. And if your husband thinks that you are over-reacting , it will take a long time to heal. If they send any more threats get a restraining order. ( I am in FL also) And every time she drives while under the influence call Highway Patrol.Good Luck I hope you can escape!!!!

What does your husband say about it? They are his parents. You need to sit down with both of them and set guidelines. No drinking or being drunk in front of the grandkids. They are welcome to come over on Sunday for lunch and the afternoon or something. They must always call before coming over because you may have already made plans, etc. Tell them you love them and want to help. Ask her how you can help?
Even if you don't want to do this, these two may be around for a very long time making you miserable. You should try to fix this now.

Welcome to the world of In-Laws... Unfortunatly you cant shoot them..

You need to tell yer hubby to pick a side.. thats yer problem.. if he wont pick a side.. guess what.. he's picked a side... (think about it)

I thank the gods everyday I have no more wife and inlaws to deal with.. (I would never let my parents to get away with this crap) Umm and legaly? Grandparents really have no rights... Sheesh... gimme a break.. this happens because you allow it to happen.. get a restraining order if yer serious.. not hard to do... what a $30 or so filing fee?? you spend more than that on Starbucks coffee in a week...

Tell her now, before the move, that if she moves as well she can't expect that your social life will necessarily accomodate her. Let her know that moving indicates a fresh start for you and your family, and you don't guarantee her any part of that.
