If you look in the front of your telephone book there should be a number for an abuse registry. If that isn't the route you want to take then look under State Government in the front of the phone book and there should be listings for the Department of Children's and Family Services. If you do not give your name then you can remain anonymous.

A few things you should think about before you make any report.

First, you don't have a right to privacy in this matter and CPS will not respond to anonymous. If you call CPS and are mistaken you could find yourself on the wrong end of a lawsuit.

Second, Social Services is not in the business of checking on parents on the chance that they may not be fit. That would require them to potentially check every parent in the state and they just don't have the resources or manpower. They handle cases of known abuse or neglect. Can you prove (have evidence of) any known abuse or neglect that makes this woman unfit to be a mother? Believe me, you will be asked.

If you are confident in these two items then the contact number for California's Child Protection Services is:
(916) 651-6960
