I'll give you one. The Spartans were taken as children and raised in the "military way" They were "given" to adult spartans as their, ahem, BOYS while they trained. In an unusual rite of passage into manhood, a female was hidden in the barracks, her hair cut, only to be stolen away in the night and "impregnated", thusly establishing their manhood and the futre illusion of "rightness in the eyes of God".
Their fierce and efficient military skill was second to none, hence the Battle of Thermopylae (where they were also assisted by 700 thespians.)
