Especially freestyle bocce, where you play cross-country (or at least not on a court).

I'm just not certain that it ever will be included.

There isn't an international federation of bocce that is associate with the Interational Olympic Committee. That is one big strike against it.

In addition it really isn't an international sport. For a sport to be considered for the Olympics there have to be more than a few countries that could realistically contend (or at least send athletes) for the competition. That is part of the arguement against baseball and softball right now. Because only a couple of countried dominate and they aren't big sports in other countries, that is one of the reason why the Olympics are dropping them as sports. Same thing for bocce. It has to gain more of an international presence before it will be considered.

With all of the events already in the Olympics, I believe we can ask 'why not Bocce?' It is quite a popular game, and its best players should be able to complete on a stage such as the Olympics.

Its all about inclusion.
Bocce is a derived game designed especially to enable those who would not otherwise be able to compete enter and win at an olympic level.
